HP StorageWorks SAN Virtualization Services Platform 2.1.1 release notes (5697-0066, July 2009)

Description
HP StorageWorks SAN Virtualization Services Platform (SVSP) is a hardware and software solution
that enhances the storage capabilities of approved storage arrays. Using Virtualization Service
Manager (VSM) software, redundant VSM servers and Data Path Modules (DPMs) map application
server I/O to locations on storage systems.
Versions
HP SAN Virtualization Services Platform 2.1.1, which includes:
Virtualization Services Manager software version 1.1.451 supported by LSI HBA driver version
9.1.3.17 dated 5/14/2007.
Data Path Module software version 5.1.4110f.
HP provides supported applications for anti-virus protection and the imaging of installation restore
points. Other applications may work, but the following were tested with the HP SAN Virtualization
Services Platform:
Symantec AntiVirus 10.x
Symantec Ghost Solution Suite 2.0
Product models
HP StorageWorks Data Path Module
HP ProLiant DL360 G5 server for the HP SAN Virtualization Services Platform Manager (or Virtu-
alization Services Manager). The server runs Microsoft Windows Server Standard Edition 2003
with Storport driver 9.1.3.18 or later and the ProLiant Smart Array SAS/SATA controller driver
6.8.0.32 or greater.
Fixes
The following issues were fixed in HP StorageWorks SAN Virtualization Services Platform version
2.1.1:
VMware ESX 3.5 updates 3 & 4Fixed an issue where these updates to VMware made use of
an Inquiry page that the DPM mishandled and was unable to properly rescan DPM-presented
virtual disks.
MSA 2212FCFixed an MSA to VSM path instability issue, where paths would fail and the disk
would be marked as being in a partial state and would not be operational.
Synchronous mirror 30 TB limitFixed an issue where the DPM would not allow the creation of
a synchronous mirror totaling more than 30 TB.
Could not merge jobs back if an asynchronous mirror group on a virtual disk group was splitFixed
an error that occurred when the asynchronous mirror group was merged after being split on a
virtual disk group. The result was bad data on all virtual disks at the destination, except for the
first virtual disk, even if no error message was produced.
Deleting multiple VSS snapshots with the VSM GUIDeleting multiple VSS snapshots in the VSM
GUI navigation pane caused problems with both VSM servers. Using the VSM GUI to delete one
VSS snapshot at a time works and is supported. A fix was incorporated that does not allow the
