HP StorageWorks SAN Virtualization Services Platform 2.1.1 release notes (5697-0066, July 2009)

deletion of multiple VSS snapshots at one time when using the VSM GUI. Instead, delete VSS
snapshots with the Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service that created them.
TPRLO support reinstatedFixed an issue where the receipt of a TPRLO frame caused the DPM to
reboot or fail.
Memory leak on idle VSM serversFixed a VSM memory leak issue that only occurred on idle
VSM servers with a minimal setup.
Licensing errors due to case-sensitivity of WWNNsFixed an issue when assigning 4port LTU
licences to DPMs where the case sensitivity of the WWNNs led to incorrect license counts. The
WWNN is no longer case sensitive.
VSM server receives an election message from itselfFixed an issue where the active VSM receives
an election message from itself and reports an assert in the VSM trace file.
VSM server receives asserts when DPM disconnectedAn issue was fixed when I/O would fail
and the VSM server received hundreds of asserts when disconnecting the virtual disk group's DPM
front-end ports.
DPM reboots or crashes due to incorrect zoningIncorrect zoning that exposes a host to the VSM
server through a back-end initiator port of the DPM instead of the front-end target port caused
DPMs to reboot or crash. A fix was made to the DPM firmware that deletes the host permissions.
DPM fan speed auto adjustFixed a fan speed measurement calculation in the DPM that incorrectly
indicated that the fan was running too fast. This caused the fan speed to slow down and warning
messages to be logged.
DPM prevents Force ResumeAn issue was fixed where the status of a powered off DPM changes
from Absent to Failed within one second and prevents the execution of Force Resume on synchronous
mirrors.
DPM acknowledges Force Resume for only some synchronous mirror groupsFixed an issue where
the frequency of the domain status caused the DPM to not acknowledge the Force Resume on all
synchronous mirror groups.
Prerequisites
A dual-fabric SAN with approved storage arrays using B- or C-Series switches. See the HP Single
Point of Connectivity Knowledge (SPOCK) website at http://www.hp.com/storage/spock for supported
switch firmware. Site registration is required.
Enhancements
HP StorageWorks SAN Virtualization Services Platform version 2.1.1 adds:
AIX 6.1
Solaris 9 (no clusters)
A ForceActive utility has been added to the VSM installation CD. This utility automates the stretched
domain recovery process when one or the two sites in the stretched domain has failed.
Installation instructions
For a new or upgrade installation of Virtualization Services Manager or Data Path Module software,
contact HP Support. Be aware of the topic named VSM server failure during upgrade on page 10
as a possible issue for servers being upgraded. After installing the VSM GUI, change the registry as
described below and reboot the VSM server.
At the location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\
CrashControl\CrashDumpEnabled, set the registry key to 0x1 (instead of 0x2).
