A Using VSM with firewalls
To protect you system against unauthorized access from outside your network, enable Windows
Firewall. However, a number of ports need to be opened to allow SVSP to communicate properly.
The following firewall ports must be open:
Inbound ports
TCP ports 20, 21, 22, 23, 3260, 4102, 5988, 5989 (Rule name: SVSP TCP port)
TCP port 8080 (Rule name: HTTP_TCP port)
UDP port 137 (Rule name: SVSP UDP port)
Outbound ports
TCP port 8080 (Rule name: HTTP_TCP port)
Windows 2003
To enable Windows Firewall on Windows 2003:
1. Click Start > Control Panel > Windows Firewall.
2. On the General tab, verify that the firewall is On (enabled).
3. Click the Exceptions tab.
4. Select File and Printer Sharing and click the Edit button.
5. Check the box to enable UPD 137. While UPD 137 is highlighted, click the Change scope
button.
6. Select Any computer (including those on the Internet) and click OK.
7. Ensure the check box to the left of File and Printer Sharing is selected.
8. Select the Remote Desktop check box.
9. Click Add Port... The Add a Port window appears.
10. Enter a name and port number for the entries below.
