Creating VSM virtual disks
1. Place a mouse cursor over the virtual disk identity in the left-side menu.
2. Right-click and select New.
3. Follow the prompts.
4. Present to a previously defined UDH.
5. On the server (UDH), discover the new LUN.
Defining hosts in SVSP
This section describes how to attach SVSP virtual disks to servers by operating system.
AIX servers

HP-UX servers
1. Run ioscan on all HP-UX hosts.
2. Create HP-UX user-defined hosts (UDHs) from absent HBAs.
3. Right-click on HP-UX UDHs and set the host to offline.
4. Present volumes to the offline HP-UX hosts.
5. Run ioscan on all HP-UX hosts.
6. Right-click on HP-UX UDHs and set the hosts to online.
Linux servers
It may be necessary to reboot the Linux server to allow the discovery of HBAs by the VSM
application.
OpenVMS servers

Solaris servers
Not available at the time of publication.
VMware servers
To discover a new SVSP virtual disk:
1. Launch the Virtual Infrastructure client.
2. Select the ESX server to which you have presented a new virtual disk.
3. Select the Configuration tab.
4. On the left side, under Hardware, select Storage Adapters.
5. Near the top, right window, click Rescan.
6. In the Rescan dialog box, select the Scan for Storage Devices and Scan for New VMFS Volumes
checkboxes and click OK. The bottom half of the window displays new LUN information that
includes the path.
7. Follow the VMware instructions to create a DATASTORE and to make the newly discovered
virtual disk visible to a guest operating system.
Windows servers
Use Disk Manager to discover and initialize the new devices.
