VSS deployment with VSM virtual disk groups
To reference multiple VSM virtual disks as a single entity, you must place the VSM virtual disks in
a virtual disk group (VDG). Every operation that you perform on the VDG is carried out
synchronously on all VDG members. VDGs are often used to encapsulate data files and log files
of the same database into a one entity.
From a server perspective, the data files and the log files reside on two separate drives. From a
backup and recovery perspective, the data files and the log files are two components of a single
