12 Backup and restore
This chapter describes how to backup and restore the VSM configuration database and the DPM
configuration information.
Backing up and restoring the VSM configuration

in the C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\SVSP\Core\Backup directory. The default
backup interval is every 60 minutes. You can define when the backup occurs through the VSM
management GUI. To set up an automatic backup interval for the VSM configuration, in the VSM
management GUI select
Tools > Options > General > Configuration and click Backup Setup.
You can manually start a backup of the VSM setup configuration. In the VSM management GUI, select
Tools > maintenance menu.
Setup files and boot data files are saved to the local disk drive on the active VSM under the installation
directory. The default installation directory is
C:\program files\storage networking technologies\core\backup
The size of the backup folder is defined by a value in the VSM monitor. When the folder reaches this
maximum limit, the oldest files are deleted to free up space for new files. To change the size of the
folder, in the VSM monitor select
