Corrective actionProblem
• Verify that there is adequate free space in the pool.
• Verify that the pool is in a normal status. Missing
EVA or MSA virtual disks can cause a volume
creation failure.
• Verify the presented capacity is available.
• Verify that the license capacity has not been ex-
ceeded.
• Check the Disabled Operations tab on the pool
for a potential cause.
Cannot create a new virtual disk.
Check the disabled operations tab on the virtual disk.
This lists what operations are disabled and why.
Cannot delete a virtual disk.
• Check the VSM event log for failover messages to
determine which server requested the failover.
• Review the server event logs for I/O failures that
would cause a virtual disk failover.
The virtual disk is running on the secondary DPM.
• Check the status of the EVA or MSA.
• Check the VSM interface as to whether the virtual
disk is listed as a partial status. Partial status means
that one or more of the EVA or MSA virtual disks
that make up a VSM virtual disk are not accessible
to VSM. If it is a partial status, check zoning and
LUN masking to correct the problem.
• Check the DPM logs as to whether the virtual disk
is listed in a PART status. A PART status means that
one or more of the EVA or MSA virtual disks that
make up the VSM virtual disk is not accessible to
the DPM.
• Check DPM presentation to the host server.
Server I/O to virtual disk fails
• Check the status of the EVA or MSA.
• Check the VSM interface as to whether the virtual
disk is listed as a partial status. Partial status means
that one or more of the EVA or MSA virtual disks
that make up a VSM virtual disk are not accessible
to VSM.
• Check for storage pool capacity. Low or no pool
capacity can cause cloning or replication tasks to
fail.
• Check the EVA or MSA presentation.
VSM I/O fails/snapclone fails/Continuous Access
replication fails
• Check your zoning.
• Reboot the DPMs as needed.
• Reboot the VSMs as needed.
• Check if DPM licenses have been installed.
VSM does not see the DPMs
