VSM graphical user interface
For best maintenance performance, open the VSM GUI on a daily basis and look for changes to the
objects status. Object status should be Normal (for logical objects like volumes or pools) or Present
(for physical devices like disk drives or HBAs). Figure 19 shows an VSM GUI in which the logical
objects have a status of Normal and the physical devices have a status of Present.

Creating and using an object query
Any status other than Normal or Present is an indication of a problem with the object.
One way to look for object status is by browsing the GUI pages looking for any nonstandard status.
However, the VSM GUI is a more quick and efficient way to search by using the predefine search
tool called Query Management.
To use the Query Management in the VSM GUI perform these steps:
1. Under the root of the GUI, right click Query Management.
2. Select Create Quick Query >> Object Not in Normal Status.
Figure 20 shows a window with these selections.
