HP StorageWorks SAN Virtualization Services Platform Manager user guide (AG781-96017, March 2009)

DescriptionProperty
The application associated with the virtual disk. For information about adding
application types and associating them with virtual disks, see “Adding applications
to virtual disks” on page 122.
Application Type
Yes indicates that the virtual disk is a thin provisioned virtual disk type.
No indicates that the virtual disk is not a thin provisioned virtual disk type.
Is Thin Provision
This setting indicates whether the virtual disk is a SAN API virtual disk. SAN API
virtual disks are created to enable hosts to direct SAN API commands to VSM
through a DPM. For information about creating SAN API virtual disk, see “Creating
the setup virtual disk” on page 361.

Viewing virtual disk information
You can display detailed information related to each virtual disk in the tabs area below the virtual
disks list.
To view information related to a virtual disk:
In the virtual disks list, select a virtual disk. The following tabs are displayed:
Properties—Provides the same general information about the selected virtual disk described in
Table 40.
Storage Pool—Provides information about storage pool(s) from which virtual disk capacity is alloc-
ated.
PiT—Provides information about any snapshot PiTs created for the selected virtual disk.
Host Presentation—Provides information about hosts that have permission to access the selected
virtual disk.
Data Path Module/VSM—If the selected virtual disk is used by UDHs, the Data Path Module/VSM
tab provides information about the DPMs that service this virtual disk, which one is configured as
primary, and which is currently active.
Virtual Disk Segment—Provides information about the virtual disk segments from which the selected
virtual disk is constructed. A virtual disk consists of more than one segment if it is created from
more than one storage pool or was expanded.
User Quota—Shows the users from which this virtual disk uses quota and the quota that this virtual
disk uses from each user.
Security—Shows which permissions are assigned to users and user groups for managing the vir-
tual disk.
Virtual Disk Copy— Provides information about the copies of the virtual disk.
Hierarchy—Shows the relationship between the selected virtual disk and any snapshot PiTs and
snapshots associated with it.
Disabled Operations—Shows which operations you cannot currently perform on the virtual disk,
and the reason for each. See the release notes for a current list of disabled operations.
These tabs are described in the sections that follow.
