HP StorageWorks SAN Virtualization Services Platform Manager user guide (AG781-96017, March 2009)

Remove Host Permission—You can remove permission from a host that currently has permission
to access the virtual disk.
Change LUN—If a virtual disk is set to allow permission only to UDH hosts, you can change the
LUN that the DPM uses to expose the virtual disk to the host.
These options are not available for a virtual disk that belongs to a virtual disk group or that has
components associated with it that were created by VSM services, such as the snapshot service.
Adding host permission
You can add host permission to a virtual disk that has no host permission defined or add permission
to an additional host for a virtual disk that already has host permission defined. This option is not
available for a virtual disk that belongs to a VDG or that has components associated with it that were
created by VSM services, such as the snapshot service.
To present one or more virtual disk(s) to a specific host:
1. In the navigation tree, expand the Entities node.
2. Click the Hosts node. The hosts list appears in the list area.
3. Right-click the host to which you want to present virtual disks.
4. Select Manage > Manage Virtual Disk Permission > Add Permissions. The Add Permissions wizard
opens to the Select Virtual Disk(s) screen and displays the list of available virtual disks.
5. If you would like to select a virtual disk from a folder, navigate to the folder in the tree on the left
of the screen. The Select Virtual Disk(s) screen displays the list of virtual disks in the selected
folder.
6. Select the virtual disk that you want to present to the host.
7. Click Add. The virtual disk you selected appears in the lower area of the screen. If you want to
change your selection, select the virtual disk in the lower area of the screen and click Remove.
8. Repeat steps 5 through 7 for any additional virtual disks you want to present to the host.
9. Click Next. The Select DPM Group screen appears.
10. In the upper area of the screen, select a DPM group and click Add. The DPM group you selected
is displayed in the lower area of the screen.
11. Click Next. The Select preferred path screen appears.
12. Use the checkboxes to set one DPM in the DPM group as primary and one DPM as secondary.
NOTE:
Use care in selecting the primary and secondary DPMs to prevent over subscribing one
and under utilizing the other.
If you click Finish without defining the primary and secondary DPMs, VSM defines these
roles automatically.
13. Click Next. A confirmation screen appears.
14. Click Finish. The host now has permission to access the selected virtual disks.
To add host permissions to a specific virtual disk:
1. In the navigation tree, expand the Entities node.
