12. Select one of the following:
• Next free LUN (recommended)—VSM assigns the next free LUN available for presenting the
snapshot or VDG snapshot to permitted host(s).
• Specified LUN—VSM assigns the LUN that you specify for presenting the snapshot or VDG
snapshot to permitted host(s).
13. Click Next. The Select DPM Group screen appears. The upper area of the screen displays the
DPM groups through which the host is registered.
14. In the upper area of the screen, select a DPM group and click Add. The DPM gGroup you selected
is displayed in the lower area of the screen.
15. Click Next. The Select preferred path screen appears.
16. Use the checkboxes to set one DPM in the DPM group as primary and one DPM as secondary.
NOTE:
If you click Finish without defining the primary and secondary DPMs, VSM defines these
roles automatically.
17. Click Next. A confirmation screen appears.
18. Read the confirmation screen to check that you want to perform the operation described.
19. If necessary, click Cancel to cancel the operation or click Back to modify the operation.
20. When you are sure that you want to perform the operation described in the confirmation screen,
click Finish. The host permission is added to the snapshot or VDG snapshot.
Changing host permissions
You can change the type of permission assigned to a host that has permission to access a snapshot
or VDG snapshot.
NOTE:
This option is not available for a snapshot that belongs to a VDG or is the source element for any PiTs
or other snapshots.
To change host permission for a snapshot or VDG snapshot:
1. Right-click the snapshot or VDG snapshot for which you want to change host permission.
2. If you right-clicked a snapshot, select Manage > Manage Permission > Change Permissions. The
Change Permissions wizard opens to the Select Host(s) screen. If you right-clicked a VDG snapshot,
select Manage > Manage Permission > Change Host Permission. The Change Host Permission
wizard opens to the Select Host(s) screen.
3. Select a host whose permission you want to change.
4. Click Add. The host you selected appears in the lower area of the screen. If you want to deselect
the host, select the host in the lower area and click Remove.
5. Click the Permission field for the host.
