23 Performing maintenance activities
The VSM client enables you to perform maintenance activities on VSM servers. Maintenance activities
enable you to configure not only the VSM client but the VSM server environment itself.
You can:
• Erase the VSM server configuration
• Backup the VSM server configuration
• Create the setup virtual disk
• Create SAN API virtual disks
• Perform manual VSM server elections
• Perform manual VSM server failovers
• Manage multiple domain access paths
• Manage limits definitions
Erasing the VSM server configuration
The VSM client enables you to erase the local domain configuration. This operation deletes all
configurations, including all entities defined in the domain, such as pools, virtual disks, snapshots,
VSM service groups, users and passwords. After the operation ends, you can use the default user
name and password to log into the active VSM server in the domain.
CAUTION:
Before you perform this operation, get authorization from your manager. Data may be lost as a result
of this process.
