HP StorageWorks SAN Virtualization Services Platform Manager user guide (AG781-96017, March 2009)

DescriptionProperty
The vendor of the physical storage system exposing the back-end LU.Vendor
The model of the physical storage system exposing the back-end LU.Model
The storage capacity on the back-end LU available for allocation.Capacity
The signature written to the back-end LU by the VSM server when the back-end LU
is configured as a storage pool member. When you add a back-end LU to a storage
pool, the VSM server to which you are connected writes a signature on the back-
end LU, which includes the domain name. The back-end LU now belongs to a
domain and can only be managed by connecting to the VSM server that manages
that domain.
Signature
A free text field. To enter text into this field, right-click the back-end LU in the List
area and select Manage > Edit Comment.
Comment
The full storage capacity of the back-end LU. This is the value returned by a read-
capacity iSCSI command and is slightly larger than the capacity available to VSM.
Real Capacity
The size of the smallest writable element on the back-end LU, in bytes.Sector Size
The unique hardware ID of the back-end LU.Serial Number
The time at which VSM first detected the back-end LU.Creation Time
The time of the last modification to the back-end LU configuration in VSM. The
modification may be the addition or removal of the back-end LU from a storage
pool.
Modification Time
The name of the user who made the last modification to the back-end LU configur-
ation in VSM.
Modified By
The logical block address (LBA) of the last sector available for virtual disk allocation.Last LBA
The LBA of the last sector on the back-end LU.Real Last LBA
Viewing back-end LU information
You can display detailed information related to each back-end LU in the tabs area below the Back-End
LUs list.
To view information related to a back-end LU:
In the Back-End LUs list, select a back-end LU. The following tabs are displayed:
Properties—Provides the general information about the selected back-end LU described in Table
19.
Storage Pool—Displays the properties of the storage pool to which the back-end LU belongs, if
applicable.
Stripe Set—Displays the properties of the stripe set to which the back-end LU belongs, if applicable.
Virtual Disk—Displays any virtual disks allocated to hosts from the back-end LU.
Back-End LU Segment—Shows the mappings of virtual disks to segments of the selected back-end
LU.
Access Path—Provides information about the connectivity paths through which VSM can access
the selected back-end LU.
