Storage pool information—Storage Pool Segment tab
The Storage Pool Segment tab shows the mapping between logical block addresses (LBAs) on each
back-end LU in the storage pool and LBAs on virtual disks and virtual disk segments created from the
selected storage pool.
The mapping information is displayed in a tabular format. Each line in the table represents a mapping
between all or part of a back-end LU and all or part of a virtual disk. When a virtual disk is expanded,
the new part of the virtual disk is represented by a new line in this table. With thin provisioning,
expect a large number of segments because the virtual disk is sparsely populated.

DescriptionDisplay field
The row number.No
A back-end LU or stripe set on which a virtual disk or virtual disk segment is
mapped. The icon indicates whether the device is a back-end LU or a stripe set,
and the text indicates the name.
Device
The first of the LBAs on the back-end LU that are mapped to a specific virtual disk
or virtual disk segment.
Device Start LBA
The number of LBAs on the back-end LU that are mapped to a specific virtual disk
or virtual disk segment.
LBA Count
The name of a virtual disk created from the storage pool that is mapped to the
back-end LU. An empty value indicates free capacity on a back-end LU.
Virtual Disk
The first LBA of a virtual disk or virtual disk segment.Virtual Disk Start LBA
The time at which VSM allocated this virtual disk or virtual disk segment. A virtual
disk may be comprised of multiple segments, each created at a different time.
Modification Time
The user who last modified the virtual disk properties.Modified By
Storage pool information—Security tab
The Security tab displays the access permissions of users and user groups for the selected storage
pool. For information about configuring permissions, see
Configuring security permissions for entities” on page 337.
