Overview of HP Serviceguard A.11.18
HP Serviceguard A.11.18 includes the following new features:
IPv6 Support and Data LAN
Modular method for configuring packages
Support for SNMP subagents
Support for SG WBEM provider 2.0 support
Of these features, the modular method for configuring packages impacts
the way in which you need to configure XDC. As a result, except for this
feature, for information on the other features, see Managing HP
Serviceguard for Linux, Thirteenth Edition. This document is available
at http://docs.hp.com -> high availability.
Modular Method for Configuring Packages
With A.11.18, HP Serviceguard introduces a unified method of
configuring packages. Packages created with this method are referred to
as modular packages. With this new method, you can configure any
package using a single file. You need not create and manually copy
separate package control files to all nodes in the cluster.
XDC packages created using previous versions of HP Serviceguard are
called legacy packages. You can use these legacy packages with HP
Serviceguard A.11.18 and XDC A.01.01.
Benefits of Modular Packages
Following are the benefits of using modular packages:
You can configure all package parameters in a single package
configuration file.
As a result, you no longer have to create individual package
configuration files and copy them to all nodes in the cluster.
External scripts offer an improved means of application integration.
These replace the Customer Defined Functions in the legacy package
control script. You do need to distribute these scripts to all the nodes
that can run the package.
