6.1 Building a HANA cluster environment
The prerequisites for configuring a HANA system in SGeSAP environment are:
• Appliance hardware: Two single-host HP AppSystem for HANA appliances can be coupled
to build a HANA System Replication cluster with automated failover capabilities see
Figure 24 (page 89).

• Network connectivity: Connect the two appliances on the same subnets for data-customer and
appliance management networks. The Netweaver applications use the data-customer network
to communicate with HANA, they are installed on non-HANA appliance operating system
images, optionally on additional nodes, or a separate cluster. Database clients can access
the HANA by using a virtual hostname. Administrators can refer to the appliance management
network while setting up the System Replication configuration within SAP HANA.
HP recommends that you have a dedicated network for Quorum service. See Managing HP
Serviceguard A.11.20.20 for Linux for installing Quorum software.
• SAP software: SLES is delivered pre-installed by HP as part of the appliance. Configure primary
and secondary SAP HANA appliances with the same SID (SAP System ID) and System number.
• Cluster Quorum Infrastructure: Install the Serviceguard Quorum server on a separate server.
You can share the Quorum server with non-HANA appliance clusters. See Managing HP
Serviceguard A.11.20.20 for Linux for information on Quorum server.
