HP Serviceguard for Linux Version A.11.19 Release Notes, October 2009

NOTE: libXp is usually already installed as part of SLES 10 and 11. For Red Hat
5, you will usually need to install it explicitly from the distribution CD.
3. Downloaded and installed the Java SE Development kit (JDK):
1. Go to http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
NOTE: The above URL was correct at the time of publication, but may have
changed in the meantime.
2. Select the Java JDK 1.6 Update 13 or later and follow the instructions for
downloading the Linux rpm.
As of the date of publication of these Release Notes, HP recommends you use
JDK version 1.6.0 Update 13.
NOTE: Make sure you write down the path to the JDK binary (or JDK for
IA64), for example: /usr/java/jdk1.6.0_13/bin/java.
When you install hpsmh-tomcat, you will see a message telling you to run
tomcat_cfg (/opt/hp/hpsmh/tomcat/bin/tomcat_cfg) to complete
the installation. You will need the full path to the JDK binary (or to the JDK
for IA64).
If you have forgotten to write down the path, you can run the find command
to find all Java files and directories, for example:
find / -name java
The file in the ~jdk~ path is the one you want, not one in the ~jre~ path;
for example, look for a file such as /usr/java/jdk1.6.0_13/bin/java
or (for IA64)/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_13.
4. Updated your web browser if necessary.
The current version of Serviceguard Manager requires Firefox version 2 or 3 or
later or Internet Explorer 6 or 7 or later.
5. Checked the “Known Problems for Serviceguard Manager (page 63), and the
latest Distributed Systems Administration Utilities (DSAU) Release Notes for Linux,
at the address given under “Documents for This Version (page 37), for problems
that may affect DSAU and consolidated logging.
Post-Installation Tasks
HP recommends that after installing Linux, you enable ssh, and use it for remote login
(instead of rlogin, remsh, or telnet). Use the related command scp (instead of
rcp) for remote copy. ssh and scp encrypt passwords before transmitting them,
whereas rlogin, rcp, etc., do not.
