Metrocluster with 3PAR Remote Copy A.01.00 Release Notes

cluster configuration along with the Metrocluster and Site Controller packages that are configured.
This feature requires Serviceguard A.11.20 April 2011 patch PHSS_41628 or later. It works only
on Serviceguard version A.11.20, and is available only on HP-UX 11i v3.
For more information on the validations that are performed, see Building Disaster Recovery
Serviceguard Solutions Using Metrocluster with 3PAR Remote Copy available at http://
www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs.
Support for Easy Deployment
With Metrocluster March 2013 patch PHSS_43490, Metrocluster supports the Package Easy
Deployment feature. This feature is available from the Serviceguard Manager version B.03.10 or
later. It provides a simple way to quickly deploy Metrocluster modules in supported toolkit
applications. This feature requires Serviceguard A.11.20 April 2011 patch PHSS_41628 or later.
The Package Easy Deployment feature works only on Serviceguard version A.11.20, and is
available only on HP-UX 11i v3. For detailed information about the Package Easy Deployment
feature, see Using Easy Deployment in Serviceguard and Metrocluster Environments on HP-UX
11i v3 White paper available at http://www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs —> HP
Serviceguard.
Features supported in PHSS_43098 (on HP-UX 11i v3)
Metrocluster with 3PAR A.01.00 with PHSS_43098 patch provides the following new feature:
Support for Asynchronous Periodic Mode (page 5)
Support for Asynchronous Periodic Mode
Starting with PHSS_43098 (on HP-UX 11i v3) patch release, the remote copy volume group
configured with asynchronous periodic mode can be managed by Metrocluster Remote Copy. If
you want no impact on the response time of application, then use 3PAR Remote Copy volume
group in asynchronous periodic mode.
In the asynchronous periodic mode, host writes are performed only on the primary storage array
and the host write is acknowledged as soon as the data is written into cache on the primary storage
array. The primary and backup volumes are resynchronized periodically when scheduled or when
resynchronization is manually initiated through the syncrcopy command. If an area of the volume
is written multiple times between two resynchronizations, then only the last write needs to be sent
to the other storage array. Therefore, when using Remote Copy in asynchronous periodic mode,
less data is transferred relative to the synchronous mode.
