feature and on detecting a failure of any of the Oracle processes, Serviceguard Oracle toolkit will

initiate failover of the package without waiting for Oracle to restart its components. This might

lead to undesirable results as Serviceguard Oracle toolkit will try to restart the package on the

adoptive node while Oracle is trying to restart the failed process on the same node.

Workaround:

Disable Oracle restart feature for the components “DB”, “ASM”, “LISTENER”, and “DB SERVICE”

after completion of Oracle grid installation and configuration but before packaging Oracle ASM

or Oracle DB using Oracle toolkit package. Use srvctl disable commands to disable Oracle

restart feature.

Example:

NOTE: This known problem and workaround is applicable for only those databases that are

using Oracle grid infrastructure.

1. For disabling Oracle restart for ASM instance processes run this command:

#srvctl disable asm

2. For disabling Oracle restart for database processes run this command:

#srvctl disable database –d <db_unique_name>

3. For disabling listener process if listener is configured to be managed by the Oracle toolkit

package run this command:

#srvctl disable listener –l <listener_name>

4. For disabling DB services if DB services is configured to be managed by Oracle toolkit package

run this command:

# srvctl disable service -d <db_unique_name> -s

<service_name_list_delimited_by_comma>
