With Continentalclusters one can perform a push-button recovery on the recovery site and use any type of replication to replicate data between the data centers.

The Quorum Server does not have any limitation in terms of number of nodes in a cluster. The Quorum Server can be configured as a Serviceguard package or standalone, but in either case it must run on a system outside of the cluster for which it is providing quorum services.

The software can be downloaded free from software.hp.com. A single Quorum Server can serve multiple SG/LX and Serviceguard for HP-UX clusters.

It can be made dependent on or independent of another service group. In the event of a failure, the entire service group fails over without affecting others if that service group does not have any dependency on another.

SG/LX provides separate toolkits for supported applications to create application specific Serviceguard package. The SG/LX toolkit starts, monitors, and stops the application. SG/LX provides the following toolkits: • Oracle database (DB) toolkit: The Serviceguard Oracle DB toolkit manages Oracle DB.

The capacity of a node determines how much weight of packages it can accommodate. For example, you can define a capacity called memory, which has value 1000 for a node. This means that node can accommodate a package or multiple packages having weight less than or equal to 1000.

The target SG/LX cluster can use a new shared disk as a cluster Lock LUN mechanism for membership arbitration.

The service group resource information typically includes storage (filesystems, volume managers), network (IP subnets), and other OS resources used by the application.

The Apache toolkit software is a part of the Serviceguard Contributed Toolkit which is free of cost. Serviceguard provides a utility “cmeasyinstall” that simplifies the installation process.

The command can setup the cluster Lock LUN using the disk passed through –L option. When using a Quorum Server, use the -q option instead.
