Support for Metrocluster features
Support for failover policies site_preferred and site_preferred_manual
Metrocluster with 3PAR Remote Copy supports both site_preferred and site_preferred_manual
Serviceguard failover policies. These failover policies can be used for failover packages configured
in a Metrocluster, only when sites are defined in the Serviceguard cluster configuration file.

Support for Complex Workloads Using Site Aware Disaster Tolerant Architecture
Metrocluster defines a Site Aware Disaster Tolerant Architecture (SADTA) for deploying complex
workloads such as Oracle RAC and SAP. Complex workloads are the applications that are
configured using multiple interdependent failover and multi-node packages. Complex workloads
can be configured using SADTA. These complex workloads are managed by a Site Controller

Supported volume managers with Metrocluster with 3PAR Remote Copy
The following volume managers are supported with Metrocluster with 3PAR Remote Copy.

• VxVM
• LVM

Support for Oracle RAC
Oracle RAC databases can be deployed in a Metrocluster environment for disaster tolerance using
the SADTA. Such a configuration is referred as Metrocluster for Oracle RAC. For more information

Metrocluster with 3PAR Remote Copy supports Oracle single instance database. This can be
configured using HP Serviceguard Enterprise Cluster Master Toolkit. For more information on

Metrocluster with 3PAR Remote Copy supports Oracle single instance ASM database on raw LVM
