1 Metrocluster with EMC SRDF Version A.09.01 release notes Announcements Metrocluster with EMC SRDF, henceforth referred to as Metrocluster/SRDF is a member of Hewlett-Packard’s family of high availability products for customers requiring integrated disaster recovery solutions. Metrocluster/SRDF integrates EMC SRDF/Synchronous and SRDF/Asynchronous with HP Serviceguard, allowing you to build clustering solutions to failover applications and data across geographically separated data centers.
• • “Support for Oracle RAC ASM ” (page 8) “Support for Oracle 11gR2” (page 8) Metrocluster/SRDF contains the following files: 6 srdf.env The Metrocluster/SRDF environment template file for defining the application environment. This template must be customized for specific EMC Symmetrix and host system configuration. Copies of this template must be customized for each Serviceguard package. DRCheckDiskStatus A Metrocluster script that checks for the existence of srdf.env in the package directory.
NOTE: Sample scripts use the node names ftsys1, 2, 1a, and 2a; change them to match your own cluster node names. Support for HP Integrity Virtual Machines 4.2 Metrocluster with EMC SRDF version A.09.01 includes support for HP Integrity Virtual Machines 4.2. All Serviceguard-related restrictions and guidelines for supporting HP Integrity Virtual Machines 4.2 are also applicable for Metrocluster configurations.
This capacity can be used for Site Controller packages and failover packages configured in a Metrocluster with sites defined in the Serviceguard cluster configuration file. For more information on this failover policy site_preferred_manual, see the Designing Disaster Recovery HA Clusters Using Metrocluster and Continentalclusters, September 2010 document available at http://www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs —> HP Metrocluster.
Timing Considerations Metrocluster/SRDF may increase package startup time by five minutes or more. Packages with many disk devices will take longer to start up than those with fewer devices due to the time needed to get device status from the EMC disk array or to synchronize.
NOTE: For more information on support, compatibility, and features for Metrocluster/SRDF, see the Serviceguard Disaster Recovery Products Compatibility and Feature Matrix (Metrocluster with EMC SRDF) available at http://www.hp.com/go/ hpux-serviceguard-docs —> HP Metrocluster.
NOTE: For the supported Symmetrix microcode level on HP-UX 11i v3, see the Serviceguard Disaster Recovery Products Compatibility and Feature Matrix (Metrocluster with EMC SRDF) available at http://www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs —> HP Metrocluster. For more details on supported microcode levels with SRDF and its features, refer to the relevant Solutions Enabler Support Matrix at the EMC documentation Web site. • • M by N requires microcode level 5x67 and greater.
HP Software Requirements HP-UX 11i v2: • HP 9000 server specific requirements are: — Serviceguard version A.11.19 • HP Integrity server specific requirements are: — Serviceguard version A.11.19 NOTE: Metrocluster/SRDF supports Modular packages with HP Serviceguard A.11.18 and later only. HP-UX 11i v3: • • The HP 9000 server requires Serviceguard versions A.11.19 and A.11.20 HP Integrity server requires Serviceguard versions A.11.19 and A.11.20.
NOTE: On Integrity platforms, if EMC PowerPath is used for Consistency Group configuration: • PowerPath version 5.0.0 or higher NOTE: To configure Consistency Groups using the RDF Enginuity Consistency Assist (RDF-ECA), install the EMC Solutions Enabler software. You need not install the PowerPath software. HP-UX 11i v3: • EMC Solutions Enabler versions 7.0, 7.1, and 7.1.x.
• • • RDF_MODE (new) - This variable is used to indicate the data replication mode. AUTORIRWSUSP (new) - This variable is used to indicate whether the package should auto start when the pairstate is suspended. SYMCLI_MODE - If this variable is already set, then unset. Otherwise, do not set. Compatibility Issues HP Virtual Machine guests cannot be configured as a node in a Metrocluster.
For more information on support, compatibility and features for Metrocluster EMC/SRDF, see the Serviceguard Disaster Recovery Products Compatibility and Feature Matrix (Metrocluster with EMC SRDF) located at: http://www.hp.com/go/ hpux-serviceguard-docs —> HP Metrocluster.
