HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite A.04.00 Release Notes

9. For new installations you will need to create an HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite
cluster, see Managing Serviceguard 19th Edition for details on configuring the cluster. A
high-level summary of the steps involved in using the Cluster File System includes:
a. Create and start a Serviceguard cluster without a package using Serviceguard Manager
or Serviceguard commands (cmquerycl, cmcheckconf, cmapplyconf, cmruncl).
b. Configure and start the CFS system multi-node package SG-CFS-pkg using the
cfscluster command.
c. Create disk groups and volumes on the CVM master node using Veritas Enterprise
Administrator (VEA) or VxVM / VxFS commands (vxdg, vxassist, newfs).
d. Add the CVM disk groups and CFS file systems to the Serviceguard cluster.
NOTE: Serviceguard Manager can be used to create modular CFS packages, but not
legacy CFS packages. For more information, see the Serviceguard Manager online help.
Use cmmakepkg -m sg/cfs_all /etc/cmcluster/cfspkg1.ascii, to
create a Modular CFS Package
Edit the package ascii file to configure the appropriate parameters for the package:
checkconf /etc/cmcluster/cfspkg1.ascii
cmapplyconf /etc/cmcluster/cfspkg1.ascii
cmrunpkg package_name
NOTE: For more information on Improved CFS Integration in SG SMS version A.04.00
for HP-UX 11i v3 bundles, see the section New Features for April 2011 Patch in the
Serviceguard A.11.20 Release Notes and Managing Serviceguard 19th Edition, both
available at: www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs -> HP Serviceguard Storage
Management Suite A.04.xx
Once a CFS disk group and/or mount point is configured in a Modular package, it is
important to use cmrunpkg to start the package so the Modular CFS packages monitor
the disk group and/or mount points. Do not use the cfsmount command or HP-UX mount
command to mount these filesystems.
e. Complete the configuration:
Create the application package configuration file and control script.
Specify a same-node dependency on the Modular CFS package monitoring the disk
group/mount point to be used by the application in the package configuration file.
Verify, distribute, and apply the configuration using Serviceguard commands
(cmcheckconf, cmapplyconf).
f. Activate the multi-node packages and run the application packages using the cmrunpkg
command.
