1 HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite Version A.03.02 for HP-UX 11i v3 Release Notes Announcements The HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite (SG SMS) bundles integrate HP Serviceguard (SG) with the Veritas Storage Foundation™ by Symantec (SF). This combination provides powerful database and storage management capabilities while maintaining the mission-critical reliability HP Serviceguard customers have come to expect.
A.01.00, the “.01” indicates Veritas ™ Storage Foundation version 4.1 and the “.00” indicates HP Serviceguard version A.11.17. For each SG SMS version number, the SG SMS product bundles within that version are supported on HP-UX 11i v2, on HP-UX 11i v3, or on both OS versions. An HP-UX 11i v2 bundle will install on HP-UX 11i v2 only. An HP-UX 11i v3 bundle will install on HP-UX 11i v3 only.

NOTE: • HP recommends that you read these HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite Release Notes and any other related Installation Guides, Release Notes, Read Before Installing Guides, or READMEs before beginning an installation. Requirements and known issues for individual products included in the HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite bundles are documented in their respective Release Notes. See “Documentation for this Version” (page 19) for information on SG SMS related documentation.
NOTE: • The SG SMS version A.03.02 contains the packaging fix that resolves an issue in the VRTSvxvm pre-install script due to which DRD clone does not boot when an upgrade is made from earlier bundles. • Veritas™ Storage Foundation 5.0.1 was first integrated with SG SMS in version A.03.00. If you are upgrading from SG SMS version A.02.xx, you can find information about new features available in Veritas™ Storage Foundation 5.0.1 in the HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite Version A.03.
New features available in Serviceguard: • Easy Migration from Legacy Packages to Modular Packages: In this enhancement, Serviceguard introduces a new command, cmeasymigrate. This command can be used to convert Serviceguard legacy toolkit packages to modular packages. Using this command you can also migrate or consolidate multiple legacy or modular CFS packages into a single modular package.
• New Serviceguard capabilities allow you allow you to check the soundness of the cluster configuration, and the health of its components, more thoroughly than you could in the past, and to do so at any time, rather than only when changing the configuration of the cluster or its packages. • New capabilities in Serviceguard and HP Integrity Virtual Machines (HPVM) allow online migration of a virtual machine.

Upgrading to a Different SG SMS Bundle Upgrades to HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite bundles can fall into any one of three categories: • Rolling Upgrade - The upgrade is done online. This means individual cluster nodes can leave the cluster, be upgraded, and re-join the cluster one at a time. At no time will the entire cluster be halted. Until the last cluster node is upgraded, nodes with different versions of SG SMS can be running in the cluster.

Perform an offline upgrade of the Group B nodes (Node 2 and Node 3) to SG SMS version A.03.
Unsupported Bundle Change and Installation Scenarios Installing Storage Management Suite on top of HP Serviceguard Extension for RAC is not supported. If you have the two as separate products, install the Storage Management Suite bundle T2776DB first, then install HP Serviceguard Extension for RAC.
Installing HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite To install software, run the SD-UX swinstall command. It will invoke a user interface that will lead you through the installation. For additional information and tips on installing HP-UX and HP applications see the HP-UX 11i Version 3 Installation and Update Guide available at: http:// www.hp.com/go/hpux-core-docs → HP-UX 11i v3 For information on installing Veritas products including VxVM or VxFS, see the Veritas 5.
This procedure completes initialization steps for: — Veritas software prompting for Veritas licenses (use the default response - no) — specification of a default disk group — using enclosure-based naming For information on vxinstall, see the Veritas 5.0 Installation Guide. 6. 7. 8. 28 Verify a successful installation.
9. For new installations you will need to create an HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite cluster, see Managing Serviceguard for details on configuring the cluster. A high-level summary of the steps involved in using the Cluster File System includes: a. Create and start a Serviceguard cluster without a package using Serviceguard Manager or Serviceguard commands (cmquerycl, cmcheckconf, cmapplyconf, cmruncl). b.

be performed simultaneously, as described in:“Updating HP-UX and SG SMS Simultaneously” (page 31) • When both the currently installed versions of SG SMS and HP-UX, and the new versions of SG SMS and HP-UX that you plan to install are supported with each other, HP-UX and SG SMS can be installed independently. This is often the case with HP-UX fusion releases. ◦ The process is straight forward for non-OE SG SMS bundles.
NOTE: HP-UX 11i v3 and an HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite for HP-UX 11i v3 non-CFS bundle (T2771DB, T2772DB, T2773DB, T2774DB, T8684DB, or T8694DB) can be installed on each node as part of a rolling upgrade. See “Upgrading to a Different SG SMS Bundle” (page 21) for more information on rolling upgrades.
This message can be safely ignored when it refers only to one or more VRTS products. If this message is displayed in the update-ux interactive TUI (Terminal User Interface), simply press enter when prompted to do so, and continue with the update. For rolling upgrades, after installing HP-UX 11i v3 and a SG SMS bundle on a node, the node will rejoin the cluster automatically. For offline upgrades, after installing HP-UX 11i v3 and a SG SMS CFS bundle on all nodes, you can start-up your cluster.
Removing HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite The SD-UX swremove command is used to uninstall the HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite software. The swremove command must be issued on one system at a time. NOTE: Before attempting to remove a SG SMS bundle: — Follow any guidelines for software removal of the individual products included in the HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite bundle. In general, products should be halted and unconfigured before removal.
Download the patches into a single depot and install using the option “patch_match_target=true”. This will install only the patches from the depot that match the installed bundle. Follow any special instructions included with the patches. Access to these patches requires a valid support contract and login to the HPSC. You can also search for individual patches on the Hewlett-Packard Support Center (HPSC) web site: www.hp.
