HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite A.03.02 Release Notes (March 2012)

This message can be safely ignored when it refers only to one or more VRTS products. If this
message is displayed in the update-ux interactive TUI (Terminal User Interface), simply press
enter when prompted to do so, and continue with the update.
For rolling upgrades, after installing HP-UX 11i v3 and a SG SMS bundle on a node, the node
will rejoin the cluster automatically.
For offline upgrades, after installing HP-UX 11i v3 and a SG SMS CFS bundle on all nodes, you
can start-up your cluster.
Upgrading a SG SMS OE Bundle - Independent from an HP-UX Update
If the new SG SMS OE bundle version requires new versions of Serviceguard and ECMT, the
Serviceguard and ECMT versions must be updated together with the SG SMS OE bundle upgrade
(Table 7 (page 29) for details). To achieve this, you must build a common installation depot by
copying the relevant software components from SG SMS OE bundle media and copying the
required Serviceguard and ECMT versions from the HP-UX OE media. A single swinstall
command is used for the installation.
For the HP-UX update, Serviceguard and ECMT are excluded from the update when you run the
update-ux command. General information about updating to HP-UX 11i v3 with update-ux
is included in the HP-UX 11i v3 Installation and Updated Guide available at: http://www.hp.com/

Building a Common Depot for the Installation:
The tasks in the following example are performed on a depot server named: sw-depot.hp.com
1. Copy the SG SMS product (for example, T8684DB) and the required VxVM and VxFS software
from the SG SMS version A.03.02 media (mounted at /mnt/SMS.depot) to the installation
depot (/mnt/install.depot) residing on the depot server:
$ swcopy -x enforce_dependencies=false s /mnt/SMS.depot\
Base-VxFS-501 Base-VxVM-501 Base-VxTools-501 VxFS-SDK-501 T8684DB\
@ /mnt/install.depot
2. Copy Serviceguard (T1905CA ) and ECMT (T1909BA) from the HP-UX OE (DCOE or HAOE)
DVD (mounted at /mnt/HP-UX.depot) to the installation depot (/mnt/install.depot):
$ swcopy -x enforce_dependencies=false s /mnt/HP-UX.depot T1905CA\
T1909BA @ /mnt/install.depot
Performing the Update:
1. Shutdown the cluster, or shutdown an individual node (depending on if you are doing an
offline or a rolling upgrade).
2. Install the software from the installation depot on all cluster nodes (in parallel for offline
upgrades, or one node at a time for rolling upgrades) running the following command on
each cluster node:
$ swinstall -x autoreboot=true -s sw-depot.hp.com:/mnt/install.depot\
Base-VxFS-501 Base-VxVM-501 Base-VxTools-501 VxFS-SDK-501 T1905CA\
T1909BA T8684DB
3. After the software has been successfully installed on all of the cluster nodes:
• If an offline upgrade was performed, the cluster can be restarted.
If a rolling upgrade was performed, each upgraded node can rejoin the cluster as soon
the upgrade is completed.
See Table 6 (page 22) for upgrade paths that support rolling or offline upgrades.
