HP Remote Management
HP ProLiant G7 100-series ML, DL, and SL servers use LO100i Remote Management hardware and
firmware for remote server access and control capabilities. See the website for more information

ProLiant 300, 400, 500 and 600 series server and server blades use the iLO 3 management
processor. iLO 3 improves performance, streamlines the user interface, and enhances support for
management standards compared to iLO 2. The iLO 3 hardware includes a faster processor and
increased memory, flash and DDR, for storing and executing programs. Remote console performance
is up to eight times faster than iLO2 and equal to the performance of KVM and software-based remote
management solutions. You can take advantage of the full functionality of iLO 3 with an iLO
Advanced license or Insight Control.
iLO 3 works with HP Systems Insight Manager, Insight Control, and Insight Dynamics to provide
control over four aspects of each server:
Simplified server setup – You can configure server boot order, network configuration, RAID settings,
and other server parameters. You can also use these control parameters with internally developed
deployment scripts or with Insight Control. This shortens deployment times when compared to using
manual deployment methods.
Extended embedded health – iLO 3 offers embedded health monitoring to help determine the status
of important server components, regardless of whether the OS is running or offline.
Power and thermal control – Power and thermal controls embedded into iLO 3 can reduce server
power consumption. These controls regulate processor clock speed and switch the power supplies
into an optional high-efficiency mode.
Lights-Out remote administration – You can use Integrated Remote Console to interact remotely with
the server OS or pre-OS environment. You can use Virtual Media, including Virtual Folders, to
deliver emergency updates to remote servers. You can also take advantage of the multi-user console
and the console record and playback function to collaborate more effectively with IT staff across
multiple locations.

Virtualization technologies
HP Insight Server Migration software, HP Virtual Connect, and HP Insight Dynamics suite for ProLiant
reduce the complexity of virtualization.
HP Insight Server Migration automates the migration process by moving existing physical or virtual
servers to ProLiant G7 servers or to other virtualization platforms.
HP Virtual Connect is the first technology that allows you to divide and fine-tune 10Gb Ethernet
network bandwidth to match workload demands.
HP Insight Dynamics suite for ProLiant servers is a tool for capacity planning, configuration
management, infrastructure orchestration, and recovery management.
HP Insight Server Migration software for ProLiant
As part of HP Insight Control, HP Insight Server Migration software for ProLiant 6.0 automates the
migration process, moving existing physical or virtual servers to the latest ProLiant G7 servers or to the
latest virtualization platforms from VMware, Microsoft, and Citrix. Without Insight Server Migration
software, you must manually install the drivers, OS, and applications, and transfer the data to the
new server.
