available power, the Onboard Administrator will share the available power among all busy server
blades.

HP Power Regulator for ProLiant
HP Power Regulator for ProLiant servers provides firmware-based speed stepping for Intel x86
processors. Power Regulator gives processors full power when they need it and reduces power when
they do not. This means that ProLiant servers with policy-based power management can control
processor power states. You can configure Power Regulator for HP Static High Performance mode, HP
Static Low Power mode, or HP Dynamic Power Savings mode. HP Dynamic Power Savings mode
automatically adjusts available power to match processor demand. See the ―Power Regulator for
ProLiant servers‖ paper for more information.
Power meter for c-Class server blades
An integrated power meter in ProLiant c-Class server blades measures power use. The Onboard
Administrator can access the power meter through iLO 3 or through external power management
software such as ICpm. ICpm also consolidates power data for multiple servers to a central location.
IT departments can use this information to charge business units or third parties for the energy costs of
workload processing. The Onboard Administrator provides instant and time-averaged views of the
power consumption of individual servers or of all servers within a BladeSystem c-Class enclosure.

HP Insight Control for Linux (IC-LX) manages Linux enterprise and clustered environments. IC-LX
integrates a robust feature set of open-source and HP technologies for discovery, imaging, and
provisioning Linux environments. IC-LX also includes technologies for deployment, monitoring, remote
access, virtualization, and general lifecycle management. Open-source software, such as Nagios®
and XenServer™, are fully integrated and auto-configured, so you can use them immediately.
