HP Storage Essentials V5.1 User Guide Second Edition (Linux Release) (T4283-96056, November 2006)

Storage Essentials 5.1 User Guide 115
IMPORTANT: Complete the steps in this section if you want to discover backup applications, such
as Veritas NetBackup and HP Data Protector on Windows, HP-UX, and Linux. You can skip this
section if you are running Veritas NetBackup and HP Data Protector on Sun Solaris. See the Support
Matrix for more information on supported platforms.
If you want to manage and monitor your backups from hosts running Windows, HP-UX and Linux,
you must modify the
cimom.mof.include.APPIQ_SolarisBackupBindings property, as
described in the following steps:
1. Confirm that a CIM Extension is installed on the server on which Veritas NetBackup or HP Data
Protector is installed. See the Installation Guide for information about installing CIM Extensions.
IMPORTANT: Backup Manager does not support Veritas NetBackup and HP Data Protector
on the same host. The CIM Extension only supports one backup solution on a host. If
NetBackup and Data Protector are installed on the same host, only Data Protector is
discovered by default. Veritas NetBackup is ignored by the CIM Extension. See
Requirements for Using Backup Manager” on page 396 for more requirements for using
Backup Manager.
2. Click Options > Storage Essentials > Manage Product Health. Then, click Advanced in
the Disk Space tree.
3. Click Show Default Properties at the bottom of the page.
4. Copy the following property:
#cimom.mof.include.APPIQ_SolarisBackupBindings=APPIQ_HpBackupBindings
5. Return to the Advanced page (Options > Storage Essentials > Manage Product Health.
Then, click Advanced in the Disk Space tree).
6. Paste the copied text into the Custom Properties field.
7. Choose the operating system on which the backup applications are running and follow the
instructions provided for that operating system.
HP-UX - Uncomment the following line by removing the # symbol in front of the property:
cimom.mof.include.APPIQ_SolarisBackupBindings=APPIQ_HpBackupBindings
Linux - Uncomment the following line:
cimom.mof.include.APPIQ_SolarisBackupBindings=APPIQ_LinuxBackupBindings
Solaris - No further configuration is necessary. The management server uses Solaris as the
default.
Windows - Uncomment the following line by removing the # symbol in front of the property
in the Custom Properties field:
cimom.mof.include.APPIQ_SolarisBackupBindings=APPIQ_Win32BackupBindings
8. If the server has already been discovered, complete the following steps:
a. Select Tools > Storage Essentials > Home > Discovery > Setup.
b. Delete the NetBackup or Data Protector server.
c. Select the Topology tab.
