Step 4 - Install HP Systems Insight Manager
IMPORTANT: The steps in this section are only if you are installing HP Systems Insight Manager
(SIM) on the same server as HP SE. If you are installing HP SIM on a different server, skip this
section. After you install HP SIM by using the directions provided in the HP SIM documentation,
continue the installation steps with ”Step 5 - Install the HP Storage Essentials Connector” on
page 16.
IMPORTANT: Do not perform discovery until you have installed HP SE and the SE Connector.

1. From the Systems Insight Manager CD go to \hpsim\win_ia32 and run setup.exe
2. Select a custom install.
3. Select (at a minimum) System Management Home page and System Insight Manager to install.
4. Read the Systems Insight Manager documentation to determine how you want the System Insight
Manager Home page to be set up. To avoid initial startup issues, recommended settings for the
Home page setup wizard are:
Select “User” for Operating System Groups.
•Do not select Anonymous Access or Local Access.
•Select Trust All.
•Do not select Enable IP Binding.
•Do not select Enable IP Restricted Logins.
Finish Home Page install.
5. When installing Systems Insight Manager:
Provide the system administrator password when prompted.
IMPORTANT: See ”About Service Account Credentials” on page 15 for information about Service
Account Credentials.
When the database definition dialog appears, select 'Oracle' database and use the
following values:
•Username: SIM_MANAGER
Password: quake
Host: Fully qualified domain name of the server (for example, host1.rose.hp.com)
Database: appiq
Port: 1521
Jar File: <%ORA_HOME%>\jdbc\lib\ojdbc14.jar (you can browse to this location.
By default, %ORA_HOME% is c:\oracle\ora92). You specify this information in the Jar
File window.
