4 Deploying CIM Extensions

About the HP Storage Essentials Agent Deployment Pack
You can quickly install CIM Extensions remotely by using the HP Storage Essentials Agent
Deployment Pack. This pack installs CIM Extensions on all discovered hosts that have the following:
• HP Systems Insight Manager 5.0 or later running on Microsoft Windows
• Secure Shell (SSH)
• One of the supported operating systems mentioned in the release notes on the management
server CD-ROM.
Installing the HP Storage Essentials Agent Deployment Pack
To install the HP Storage Essentials Agent Deployment Pack:
1. Insert the CIM Extensions CD-ROM for Storage Essentials into the CD-ROM drive of your HP SIM
central management server (CMS).
2. On the central management server (CMS), create a directory named Extensions under the
directory you installed Systems Insight Manager. The default installation directory of Systems
Insight Manager is the following:
C:\Program Files\HP\Systems Insight Manager
3. Copy the extensions directory structure from the CD-ROM to the Extensions directory you created
in the previous step.
4. Verify HP SIM is running. SIM must be running for the menu item for the Deployment Pack to be
added to the SIM menu.
NOTE: If HP SIM is not running during the installation, remove the Deployment Pack and
reinstall it while SIM is running. HP SIM must also be running if you want to remove the
Deployment Pack.
5. Insert the management server CD-ROM.
6. Double-click sedeploy.exe in the HPtools directory.
7. Click Next.
8. When you are shown the license agreement, select the option for accepting the agreement if
you agree with the license.
9. Click Next.
