Installing the Management Server on Microsoft Windows24
1. Make sure OracleOraHome92TNSListener and OracleServiceAPPIQ are running before you
begin the upgrade of the management server.
2. Make sure AppStorManager is stopped before you begin the upgrade.
3. If you installed the Oracle 9.2.0.6.0 Patch as described in “Step 4 - Install the Oracle 9.2.0.6.0
Patch if Necessary” on page 43, export the database again. See ”Step 2 - Export Your Existing
Database” on page 22 for information on how to export your database.
4. Install the management server, as described in the topic, ”Step 3 - Install the Management
Server” on page 12.
The management server automatically installs to its previous location.
5. Reboot the system when you are asked.
This step is important as the AppStorManager service may not start correctly otherwise.
6. Check for the following:
• The AppStorManager service has started.
• The OracleOraHome92TNSListener and OracleServiceAPPIQ services have started.
• You can access the management server by a Web browser.
Step 7 - Upgrade HP SIM
How you upgrade HP SIM depends on your deployment setup:
• Single box deployment - Upgrade HP SIM on the same server running HP SE. Use the
procedure for an Oracle database upgrade as defined by HP SIM. This information can be
found in the HP SIM documentation.
• Dual box deployment - Upgrade HP SIM on a server that is not running SE. Refer to the
upgrade instructions in the HP SIM documentation.
Step 8 - Upgrade the SE Connector
IMPORTANT: HP SIM must be running when you upgrade the SE Connector.
1. Stop the service for HP SE (AppStorManager).
2. Verify the service for HP SIM is running.
3. Insert the CD-ROM for installing the management server (Storage Essentials) in the CD-ROM
drive of the server running SE.
4. Double-click SIMConnectorInstall.exe in the top-level directory.
5. Complete the installation by following the instructions on the screen.
During the installation the HP SIM process is restarted.
6. Start AppStorManager, which is the service for Storage Essentials.
