Discovering McDATA and EMC Connectrix Switches
McDATA and EMC Connectrix switches use the Fibre Channel Switch Application Programming
Interface (SWAPI) to communicate with devices on the network. The management server can
discover multiple instances of Enterprise Fabric Connectivity Manager.
Use one of the following techniques to discover McDATA and Connectrix switches:
Keep in mind the following:
If you change a discovery configuration from SNMP to SWAPI or vice versa, the user ID and
password will no longer work. For this reason, it is recommended that you set this property

Description Use this option if you have

You will need to connect

Provisioning
Limitations
The SWAPI setting lets you
activate a zone set, in
addition to creating, editing,
and deleting zones and zone
sets. You cannot manage or
view information about zone
aliases.
This SNMP setting through a
proxy does not let you
manage or access
information about zones,
zone sets or zone aliases.
This SNMP
setting provides
view only
access to the
active zone set
and its
members. You
cannot create,
modify, and/or
delete zone sets
or its members.
