HP Storage Essentials V5.00.01 installation guide (T4283-96011, January 2006)

Installing the Management Server on Microsoft Windows18
3. You should now be able to access HP SIM from a web browser using the URL
https://<FQDN of localhost>:50000 (for example https://example.domain.com:50000). The
host name must be fully qualified.
4. Supply the login for the user that was used to install HP SIM.
Step 7 - Configure Microsoft Internet
Explorer Settings
Configure the Internet Explorer settings that Systems Insight Manager and Storage Essentials need to
function properly. These settings may alleviate symptoms such as losing a Storage Essentials session
and being redirected to the Systems Insight Manager login page, repainting excessively, not fully
displaying sub-menu options, other unusual formatting. Depending on your version of IE, these
settings may or may not be available.
1. Add the server to Trusted Sites or Local Intranet zone
2. Open a Systems Insight Manager web page and also open a Storage Essentials out-of-frame
web page (such as Tools > Storage Essentials > System Manager). Verify that the zone in
the bottom right corner of the web page is either Trusted sites or Local Intranet. If either page is
in the Internet zone, change it through the following steps:
a. From Microsoft Internet Explorer, select Tools > Internet Options > Security > Trusted
Sites or Local Intranet, and then click Sites.
b. In the Add this Web site to the zone, enter the HP Systems Insight Manager system, as shown
in the following example. Then, click Add.
https://<FQDN of system>:50000 (for example 'https://server.rose.hp.com')
c. Verify the HP SIM system appears in the Web Sites list.
d. Click Close.
3. Accept all Cookies from the zone your sites are in (Trusted or Local Intranet)
Blocked cookies can cause Storage Essentials pages to lose their session and will redirect the
page to a Systems Insight Manager login page. To alleviate this, accept all cookies from the
Trusted or Local Intranet zones.
a. From Microsoft Internet Explorer, select Tools > Internet Options > Security.
b. Select the Privacy tab.
c. Slide the bar down to the privacy option, Accept All Cookies.
d. If you do not have a slider bar, either
Select the Default button (which will set the slider back to Medium) and slide the bar
down to Accept All Cookies.
OR
Select the Advanced button. Then, check the following: Override automatic cookie
handling, Accept First-party Cookies, Accept Third-party Cookies, Always allow
session cookies. Click OK to accept changes and exit the window for modifying your
Internet options in Internet Explorer.
4. Set stored pages settings:
a. From Microsoft Internet Explorer, select Tools > Internet Options > General.
