About Contexts
What is a context? - Context shows the relationships among the various objects in the universe.
Where/When is a context prompted? - You will be prompted to select a context when creating a
new report that contains objects from two or more different classes. For example, application and
storage system classes.
Why is a context prompted? - You will be prompted to select a context when there are different
paths to get the data, which is a normal situation when you create a report containing objects from
two or more different type of classes. Your selection of context resolves the multi-path issue and
picks a particular path, which allows your report to run.
When creating a new report, the list of possible contexts depends on the objects to be included in
the report. You must select one context in order to create the desired report.
The following figure shows an example of the Query Contexts dialog box:
