Installing the CIM Extension for OpenVMS192
Prerequisites
The required prerequisites are listed below:
• Supported OpenVMS (Alpha) versions and required ECOs
• To verify installed patches, enter the following at the command prompt:
$ prod sh prod/full
• OVMS alpha 7.3-2
The following patches must be installed in the order specified:
• DEC-AXPVMS-VMS732_PCSI-V0300
• DEC-AXPVMS-VMS732_UPDATE-V0600
• DEC-AXPVMS-VMS732_SYS-V1000
• DEC-AXPVMS-VMS732_FIBRE_SCSI-V0900
• OVMS Alpha 8.2
• DEC-AXPVMS-VMS82A_PCSI-V0100
• DEC-AXPVMS-VMS82A_UPDATE-V0300
• DEC-AXPVMS-VMS82A_SYS-V0400
• DEC-AXPVMS-VMS82A_FIBRE_SCSI-V0200
• Supported OpenVMS Itanium versions and required ECOs
• OVMS IA64 8.2-1
• HP-I64VMS-VMS821I_PCSI-V0100
• HP-I64VMS-VMS821I_UPDATE-V0300
• HP-I64VMS-VMS821I_SYS-V0200
• HP-I64VMS-VMS821I_FIBRE_SCSI-V0200
• 60 MB of free disk space
• Open network port
By default, the CIM Extension uses port 4673 to communicate with the management server.
Verify the network port is open. If you need to use a different port, see ”Finding the Version of a
CIM Extension” on page 198.
• SNIA HBA API Support
The management server is only compatible with host bus adapters (HBAs) that support the SNIA
HBA API. The SNIA HBA API support for OVMS (Alpha) 7.3-2 and 8.2 and OVMS IA64 8.2-1 is
part of the FIBRE_SCSI ECO kits listed here:
• DEC-AXPVMS-VMS732_FIBRE_SCSI-V0900 for OVMS (alpha) 7.3-2
• DEC-AXPVMS-VMS82A_FIBRE_SCSI-V0200 for OVMS (alpha) 8.2.
• HP-I64VMS-VMS821I_FIBRE_SCSI-V0200 for OVMS (IA64) 8.2-1
To verify HBA API support, check the OpenVMS host for the following files in the path specified.
$ dir sys$common:[syslib]hba_vms.exe
$ dir sys$common:[syslib]hba.conf
