Chained
Description
One or more source machines sends replicated data to a target machine that in turn acts as a source
machine and sends selected data to a final target machine which is often offsite.
Applications
This is a convenient approach for integrating local high availability with offsite disaster recovery. This
configuration moves the processing burden of WAN communications from the source machine to the
target/source machine.
Considerations
The target/source machine could become a single point of failure for offsite data protection.
