Install Storage Mirroring for Virtual Infrastructure
Install Storage Mirroring for Virtual Infrastructure by running the setup.exe file.
NOTE: If you are upgrading from Storage Mirroring for Virtual Infrastructure version 2.0: Before you begin the
upgrade, first put all active jobs into
Stop mode (in order to avoid re-synchronization after upgrade). Next,
upgrade the Storage Mirroring for Virtual Infrastructure service. Finally, upgrade the clients.
If you are upgrading from Storage Mirroring for Virtual Infrastructure version 1.0: First, upgrade the Storage
Mirroring for Virtual Infrastructure service. Then, upgrade the clients.
The Storage Mirroring for Virtual Infrastructure service should be installed on a production server that is highly
available. You may optionally install the Storage Mirroring for Virtual Infrastructure service on multiple servers;
however, if you install multiple instances of the Storage Mirroring for Virtual Infrastructure service, it is
recommended that each instance manage its own set of ESX servers. No “agent” software is required on the
VMware ESX server, nor within any protected virtual machine.
Each Storage Mirroring for Virtual Infrastructure service can be managed by multiple clients that are installed
on different administrative servers.
The single instance of the Storage Mirroring for Virtual Infrastructure service keeps track of your licenses. For
information about how to determine the number of virtual machines that you can protect based upon your
licenses, see “Manage activation codes” on page 5.
After you have installed Storage Mirroring for Virtual Infrastructure, launch the program by selecting
Start,
Programs, Storage Mirroring, Storage Mirroring for Virtual Infrastructure
. If this is your first time launching Storage
Mirroring for Virtual Infrastructure, the
