Intended audience
This document is intended for personnel who install software in storage area networks that include HP
StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Arrays.
Preparati
on
HP StorageWorks JREserver provides the Java Runtime Environments (JREs) that enable users to browse to
the HP StorageWorks Replication Solutions Ma n ager software. I t is a convenient and reliable alternative
to downloading the required JREs from the manufacturer's we b site.
HP supports these JREs and any patches distributed by the JRE developer to address issues such as
securit
y vulnerabilities. HP recommends that customers contact the JRE manufacturer to determine if
patches are required.

Installation requirements
Before you install JREserver, ensure tha t:
The HP StorageWorks JREserver CD or the web down lo ad le is available.
The management ser ver has enough space. The installation uses 331.8 MB.
Installation tips
Insta
ll HP JREserver on the same management server as HP Replication Solutions Manager.
Install HP JREserver immediately before or after installing the StorageWorks application.
If there is not enough space on the management server to a ccom modate both HP JREserver 1.1
and H
P JREserver 1.0, you can install HP JREserver 1.1 on another computer.
Remove previous versions when y ou no longer need to deploy their JREs.
If JREserver 1.0 is already installed, you ca n not select the directory where JREserver
1.1 i
s installed. The new version will install in the same d irectory: C:\Program
Files\Hewlett-Packard\jreserver.
Copy the JRE packages to an FTP server for Linux and UNIX clients.
