HP P6000 Replication Solutions Manager Administrator Guide (T3680-96069, June 2012)

Array Compatibility Reference. For instructions on upgrading controller software, see the Updating
Product Software Guide for your array model and controller software version.
If needed, upgrade HP P6000 Command View to a compatible version (see the HP P6000 Enterprise
Virtual Array Compatibility Reference).
Initial replication manager setup
The replication manager requires little setup beyond the array and array management software
(HP P6000 Command View). Specifically, you must:
Provide a LAN connection from the management server to the hosts where the replication
manager host agent is installed.
Install Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) libraries (JNIsnia or QLSDMLIB) on
Windows and Solaris hosts that need replication manager host agents.
Download and install the fcinfo package on Windows 2003 systems from
www.microsoft.com. On Solaris hosts, ensure that the SNIA application programming interface
(API) libraries are selected for installation while installing the driver packages. These components
are necessary for the replication manager host agents running on the respective platforms to
successfully discover HBA information.
Create replication manager host agent group and user accounts on hosts that need replication
manager host agents. See the HP P6000 Replication Solutions Manager Installation Guide.
Install sufficient licenses for HP P6000 Business Copy and HP P6000 Continuous Access. For
license requirements and ordering information, see the QuickSpecs on the replication product
websites.
Install replication manager software. See HP P6000 Replication Solutions Manager Installation
Guide.
Maintain replication manager groups and user accounts on the management server. See
Adding and removing user accounts” (page 28).
Configure the account credentials created during HP P6000 Command View installation in
the replication manager. See “Configuring account credentials” (page 23).
Ensure that hosts with replication manager host agents are defined in HP P6000 Command
View. For instructions, see the HP P6000 Command View online help.
Install application licenses in the replication manager to replicate applications. See “Licensing
applications” (page 29).
Install supported JREs on computers used to browse to the replication manager.
If you are running HP Replication Solutions Manager 3.0 or later, you can download
and install the JRE from the Java website at http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp.
If you are running HP Replication Solutions Manager 2.0 or earlier, use the HP JREserver
supplied on a CD with the replication manager.
Synchronize the array clocks to the management server to ensure the usefulness of logs
generated by replication jobs. See “Synchronizing management servers and arrays” (page
25).
