1
Requires valid HP P6000 Command View and HP P6000 Continuous Access licenses at both the source and destination
if the virtual disk is a member of a DR group.
2
Requires a valid HP P6000 Command View license at the destination and a valid HP P6000 Continuous Access license
at both the source and destination.
3
A valid HP P6000 Business Copy license is required to create the first snapshot on a source virtual disk. Additional
snapshots on a source virtual disk that already has a snapshot can be created without a valid license. This enables the
continuation of critical operations (such as backup) until a valid HP P6000 Business Copy license is installed.
Installing licenses
An HP P6000 Business Copy license-to-use (LTU) is required for each array that requires snapshots,
snapclones, or mirrorclones. Replication licenses are based on the amount (in TB) of replicated
data on each array. For license offerings, see the product QuickSpecs on the HP P6000 Business
Copy website at http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/Division/Division.html.
Under HP Product Bulletin, click Locate by Name, enter P6000 Business Copy in the Locate by name
box, and then select your product.
An HP P6000 Command View license is required for arrays that require remote copies. Follow
the instructions provided in the license kit for retrieving electronic license keys from the HP License
Key Renewal website and for installing the keys using HP P6000 Command View.
The optional HP P6000 DC-Manager requires a separate LTU that is specific to the array.
License compatibility
The replication manager is compatible with HP P6000 Command View licensing.
Single Sign-On
Administrators can use Launch Device Manager to launch HP P6000 Command View by
right-clicking on a storage system, virtual disk, or data replication group in the HP P6000 Replication
Solutions Manager user interface. Currently, this method requires re-entering the user name and
password to launch HP P6000 Command View. This applies to both HP P6000 Command View
array-based and server-based management.
Backing up the database
The replication manager database contains information on available resources, jobs, job instances,
and replication manager events. It is updated after replication actions and discovery. See
“Discovery” (page 9).
To back up the replication manager database, use the Export HP Replication Solutions Manager
Database command from the GUI File menu, or execute the set server command from the
CLUI. You can export the database to any existing folder on the management server.
Exported databases are XML files with names in the format CADATA_timestamp.export.xml,
where timestamp is the year, month, day, hour, minute, and second the file was created. For
example, the file CADATA_20050211135232.export.xml was created on February 11, 2005,
at 13:52:32 hours. You can change the default file name, but you must keep the extensions
.export.xml.
To restore the database, import the latest backup file using Import HP Replication Solutions Manager
Database from the GUI File menu, or set server from the CLUI.
