Resolution: Close the GUI and then restart it. The correct number of event logs appears in the event
pane.
Server trace log
The server trace log (Storage.trace) contains all events and is intended for HP personnel.
Storage.trace is located in the following directory:
HP Replication Solutions Manager install
location\RSM\JBoss\server\default\log
Storage.trace contains the replication manager server logging for the communication with HP
P6000 Command View and the host agent activities. This file is most useful for analyzing job
execution failures.
Events that are useful to the user are transferred to the event log and displayed in the event pane.
The trace log is allotted 100 MB and is written to a set of five rotating files. When the current file
reaches the allotted size and a new event is recorded, a new file is opened and the oldest history
file is permanently deleted. You can view the trace log in the replication manager's Configuration
window.
Server security log
The server security log records the following security activities:
• Successful attempts to access the replication manager
• Failed attempts to access the replication manager
• Failed authorization credentials
• Changes to security user accounts and group membership
By default, security log history is saved for 30 days. On the 31
st
day, the oldest entries are
discarded. You can change the default to any number of days, but HP recommends no more than
30 days. The file to change is called security.cfg and is located on the replication manager
server in the directory HP Replication Solutions Manager_install_directory\HP
Replication Solutions Manager\JBoss\security\config\. After changing this file,
you must restart the replication manager services.
Security logs are .txt files located on the replication manager server in the directory HP
Replication Solutions Manager_install_directory\HP Replication Solutions
Manager\JBoss\security\logs.
Host agent trace log
The host agent trace log contains all events generated on the host agent and is intended for HP
personnel.
By default, trace logs are allotted 10 MB and are saved for 30 days. If a daily log exceeds the
maximum size, it rolls over. When the log is rolled, the current event log is saved as an historical
log and a new current log is started.
The host agent trace log is located in the directory \RSMHostSW\RSMHA\logs.
Instead of size, you can configure the event log to roll on an hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly
interval.
