HP P6000 Replication Solutions Manager Administrator Guide (T3680-96069, June 2012)

You can configure the replication manager event log by changing the following parameter values
in the hprsmha.cfg file, located in the directory HP Replication Solutions
Manager_install_directory\RSMHostSW\RSMHA.
#LOG_MAXTOTALSIZE—Defines the total size of all current and historical host agent trace log
files in the logs directory (default is 500 MB). When this value is reached, the oldest log is
purged.
#LOG_LEVEL—Controls the trace messages that the host agent logs. Acceptable values are:
info—Logs all messages (default)
warning—Logs severe and warning messages
severe—Logs severe messages only
#LOG_SEVERE_BUFFER —Controls the number of lines printed when a severe event occurs, if
LOG_LEVEL is set to severe or warning (default is 50 lines). This is used for diagnostic
purposes.
For more information, see the HP P6000 Replication Solutions Manager online help.
Alternative HBA port configuration
If the host agent fails to detect the HBA information on a host under certain conditions, HP P6000
Replication Solutions Manager is unable to use the host in replication jobs. When viewed through
HP P6000 Replication Solutions Manager, the enabled host properties will not have HBA details
such as the HBA port WWN. The following parameters in the hprsmha.cfg file allow you to
control how a host agent reports HBA information on a host:
#HBACONFIGFILE—Specifies the location of the HBA port information text file (default is
./hbainfo.cfg). See the hbainfo.cfg sample file in the directory HP Replication
Solutions Manager_install_directory\RSMHostSW\RSMHA.
#USE_HBACONFIGFILE_ALWAYS—When true, indicates that the host agent always reads HBA
information from a predefined file. The host agent bypasses the built-in HBA discovery
mechanism and instead reports the HBA information as specified in the HBACONFIGFILE
parameter.
Host agent security log
If host agent authentication is enabled, security logs are generated. The host agent security log
contains the following security activities:
Successful attempts to access the replication manager host agent
Failed attempts to access the replication manager host agent
Failed authorization credentials
By default, security logs are allotted 10 MB and saved for 60 days. If a daily log exceeds the
maximum size, it is given an _x file extension. where x is an incremental number. On the 61
st
day, the expired files are discarded. You can change these defaults in the hprsmha.cfg file,
located in the directory HP Replication Solutions
Manager_install_directory\RSMHostSW\RSMHA. Remove the comment marker, change
the parameter, and then restart the replication manager host agent service.
Host agent security logs are located in the directory HP Replication Solutions
Manager_install_directory\RSMHostSW\RSMHA.
If authentication is enabled, the following sample output is displayed as comments only:
# --Namespace items
#NS_SERVER_CONTROL_AUTHENTICATION true
#NS_SERVER_CONTROL_PRIVILEGES true
#NS_HOST_SERVICES_AUTHENTICATION true
