Advantages of Cloning a Database Using the EVA Snapclone
Technology Compared to Using the Oracle Recovery Manager
Feature
The Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) supports the DUPLICATE command option to clone
the Oracle database. The DUPLICATE command performs the following tasks:
Determines the nature and locations of database backups
Allocates an auxiliary channel for the auxiliary instance
Restores the datafiles and archived redo logs to the auxiliary instance
Builds a new auxiliary control file
Performs an incomplete recovery for the clone
Resets DBID for the clone
Opens the clone with resetlogs.
The EVA Snapclone cloning feature enables you to avoid lengthy backup and restore
procedures, which the RMAN DUPLICATE command requires.
