MxFS-Linux 3.5.1
This release adds support for the following operating systems:
SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9, SP 3 (64-bit only)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS/ES 4.0, Update 4 (64-bit only)
This release includes the following implementation changes:
When MxFS-Linux is installed, it now increases the values of several
tunable parameters:
The number of NFS Server threads (specified by
RPCNFSDCOUNT
on Red Hat or USE_KERNEL_NFSD_NUMBER on SLES9) is increased
to 32.
The maximum number of outstanding
NFS RPC requests for the
TCP network transport (specified by sunrpc.tcp_slot_table_entries)
is increased to 128.
The maximum number of outstanding
NFS RPC
requests for the
UDP
network transport (specified by sunrpc.udp_slot_table_entries) is
increased to 128.
The new values are set in the /etc/sysconf/nfs file. If a larger value is
already configured, the existing value will not be changed.
A new global NFS monitor is now used to check the health of the NFS
service and vital MxFS-Linux processes on each node. These tests
were previously done by the Export Group monitor. Because the tests
are for system conditions and do not need to be checked by more than
one monitor, they have been moved to the global NFS monitor. You
can configure the probe settings for the global NFS monitor as
necessary via the Management Console. See the PolyServe
Administration Guide for more information.
A new command, mx nfsprobe, is also available to configure the
global NFS monitor and to view its settings. The mx exportgroup
--timeout option is no longer used, as the timeout function has been
moved to the global NFS monitor. However, the command has not
been removed for compatibility with any user scripts that include it. If
