User Authentication
Matrix Server uses Windows credentials to authorize access to the matrix.
By default, members of the machine local Administrators group have
access to the matrix and can perform all matrix operations. When you
configure the matrix, you should logon to Windows with a domain or
local user account that is a member of the machine local Administrators
group on the target Matrix Server node to be configured. A domain user
account is recommended to avoid additional authentication prompting
when exporting the configuration to other servers in the matrix.
Installation Procedure
Before starting the installation, be sure to review the configuration and
hardware requirements specified in Chapter 1.
NOTE: Windows 2003 requires that a device have an assigned drive letter
or mount path before it will allow read or write access to a
partition. Consequently, Matrix Server requires that the system
drive (typically C:) be on an NTFS filesystem. This is necessary
because Matrix Server creates mount points on the directory
C:\Program Files\Polyserve\MatrixServer\conf\mounts and only
NTFS filesystems support mount points.
Installation Checklist
Matrix Server must be installed on each server in your matrix. The
installation procedure consists of the following steps, which are
described in detail following this checklist.
