Ensure that firewalls are configured to allow HP
Scalable NAS to operate correctly.
Configure firewalls (optional).
If you downloaded the HP Scalable NAS
software, verify the signature for each RPM.
Verify downloaded RPMs.
This RPM includes the HP Scalable NAS binary,
source, and debug kernels.
Install the kernels RPM.
Install the appropriate binary kernel provided
with HP Scalable NAS, or if necessary, build a
custom kernel or kernel module.
Install the HP Scalable NAS
kernel.
If you will be using third-party MPIO software,
install it according to the product documentation.
Install 3rd-party MPIO software
(optional).
For sites using iSCSI, install and configure the
initiator on each server according to the iSCSI
documentation.
Install the iSCSI initiator
(optional).
Install the HP Scalable NAS software and
optionally the FS Option for Linux software.
Install HP Scalable NAS and
optionally FS Option for Linux.
The Performance Dashboard, Linux quotas
commands, and Samba support are provided in
separate RPMs.
Install other optional RPMs.
Needed only if your configuration requires an
HBA driver other than the HP Scalable NAS
default.
Specify an HBA driver if
necessary.
Determine whether the kernel has loaded the
HBA driver.
Reboot and verify the HBA
configuration.
Verify that the SAN devices are visible from the
servers and are configured correctly.
Verify the SAN configuration.
This step applies only to SLES10 and RHEL5 sites
that have built the kernel from source and will
be using FS Option for Linux.
Verify the patched kernel for FS
Option for Linux.
