D Configure the cluster from the
command line
HP Scalable NAS provides mx commands that can be used to create the initial cluster
configuration. These commands are equivalent to the Configure Cluster graphical
user interface described in Chapter 2 and can be used in configuration scripts. Be
sure to review the description of the Configure Cluster window (see 19. Configure
the cluster on page 33) to become familiar with the actions performed by the mx
commands.
NOTE:
Before configuring a cluster from the command line, steps 1 through 18 described
in the Installation procedure on page 17 must be completed on each node.
Command sequence
When performing the initial configuration of a cluster, the commands must be entered
in a specific order. The following examples show the necessary sequences for Fibre
Channel switch-based fencing and web management-based fencing.
For more information about the mx commands used in these examples, see Command
descriptions on page 77.
Fibre Channel switch-based fencing
This example assumes the cluster will include four nodes: nodeA, nodeB, nodeC,
and nodeD. The commands are run from nodeA by a user having the appropriate
HP Scalable NAS permissions on that node.
