4.1.0 HP Polyserve Matrix Server Release Notes (T5392-96068, October 2010)

Windows XP (with SP2 or SP3) 32-bit and 64-bit guest OS
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (with SP1 or SP2) 32-bit and 64-bit guest OS
Windows utilities and services
The following Windows utilities differ in operation on NTFS and PSFS filesystems:
Disk checks. In both Windows Explorer and the Disk Management utility, you can right-click a
disk volume to see its properties. The Tools tab on the Properties window includes an option to
check the disk volume for errors. This option cannot be used with PSFS filesystems. Also, the
command-line chkdsk utility cannot be used to check for errors. In place of these utilities, use the
Matrix Server psfscheck utility to check the disk. See the PolyServe Matrix Server administration
guide for details about the utility.
Remote Storage Service. The Remote Storage Service might not operate correctly. If the matrix has
a large number of disks, you may see error messages generated from this service. If you do not
need the Remote Storage Service, it can be disabled in the Services Control Panel applet.
Windows applications
You may notice the following differences from NTFS filesystems when running applications on PSFS
filesystems:
Certain Windows applications will disable NTFS-related features when run on a PSFS filesystem.
For example, older versions of Robocopy will not copy security descriptors. (As a workaround,
use Xcopy to copy the security descriptors.)
