Multiple Intersite Links
Multiple intersite links (ISLs) provide additional bandwidth between local and remote sites.
Each ISL is a fiber link between two switches.
The restrictions that apply when using multiple ISLs in a DRM environment are listed below:
DRM supports a maximum of two ISL connections per fabric.
The Multiple E-port Connectivity software option is required to access more than one
E-port when using multiple ISLs or interswitch links with the SAN Switch 8-EL.
For a cascaded switch configuration, the SAN switch 8-EL must be placed at the end of
the cascade to provide access to the E-port, unless the Multiple E-port Connectivity
software option is used.
You can increase bandwidth on the ISL by adding an additional link in parallel between the
same two switches, as shown in Figure 15. DRM supports two connections, maximum. The
switches are shown as physically connected, although the connections are transparent to the
fabric. Functionally, the devices appear to be connected directly together.
