RESTORE CONCEPTS fserestore copies the backup image from the spec-
ified restore source to a local directory, and performs restore of the FSE server
using data from the backup image file. The restore source can be either local or
remote disk volume, remote share, or FSE medium that is loaded in an FSE drive.
The restore process reverts completely the state of FSE server to the point in time
when the backup image was created.

Note:
Since FSE backup images do not contain copies of user data on HSM file
systems, neither copies of the belonging Hierarchical Storage Management
Databases (HSMDBs), FSE restore cannot be used to recreate these FSE
client components. If disaster occurs on a particular HSM file system, you
can use the inherent HSM file system recovery functionality to recover from
it. For more information, see the FSE user guide and the fserecover man

PREREQUISITES Before starting FSE restore, verify that the following pre-
requisites are met in the FSE implementation:
1. FSE is properly installed and configured. For details, see the FSE installa-
tion guide for a particular platform and the FSE user guide.
2. FSE processes on all hosts in the FSE implementation are stopped. Invoke
the command fse ––stop on each host to stop local FSE processes. External
FSE clients should be stopped before the consolidated FSE system or FSE
server.
3. If tape media will be used, FSE medium with the required backup image(s)
and at least one FSE drive are available, and medium that will be used for
restore is loaded in the drive.
4. If restore will be performed, all files should be removed from the directory
/var/opt/fse/part (on Linux systems) or %InstallPath%\var\part (on Win-
dows systems) on the FSE server host, and from all its subdirectories.
